GNOME 2.32 was released in 2010 and was the last release of GNOME 2. It’s focus was on good looks, responsiveness, stability and usability. You will find no frills nor any gimmicks. GNOME 2 was a humble graphical user interface that got out of the way so you could get your work done. I had a Macintosh at this time, but I always preferred GNOME. GNOME 2 failed to gain a lot of traction by mainstream computer users, which was frustrating for its developers and users. GNOME 2 lives on as MATE.
